Oathlane is a study app for the current (2025) U.S. naturalization civics test. It is not affiliated with USCIS, the Department of Homeland Security, or any government agency, and it is not legal advice.

No Oathlane account

You do not create an account, and there is no login. Oathlane does not ask for your name or email.

Stored on this device

Study data is saved on the phone with on-device storage. That includes your language, light or dark appearance, whether you are studying the 65/20 question set, the officer voice speed, the listening pause and whether a study-help explanation is read, whether a phone alert is on when an official changes, the ZIP code, state, and House district you enter, an interview date, whether a daily practice reminder is on, flashcard progress, quiz and interview results, the review schedule, and your streak. N-400 practice does not save what you would answer. Notes in Beyond the test, including a travel log, a card date, and case dates, stay on this phone too. Uninstalling the app deletes that data. Oathlane has no server that stores it, and the app does not send your progress, interview date, or ZIP code to Oathlane.

What this app does not do

There is no advertising SDK and no analytics SDK. Oathlane does not sell personal information and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone, or the Android advertising ID). It does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track.

Speech

The officer voice is the device’s text-to-speech. When you tap the microphone during a practice interview, the iOS and Android apps ask the operating system for on-device speech recognition. Oathlane does not upload the recording, and those apps do not switch to a network recognizer if on-device recognition is unavailable. You type the answer instead. The microphone permission is used only for that practice answer.

A web preview of the app can use the browser’s speech recognizer. That recognizer may send audio to the browser vendor. The App Store and Google Play apps are the iOS and Android builds.

Officeholder file

If a web address was set when the app was built, each launch requests a public JSON file of officeholder names. The request does not include your name, ZIP code, or progress. The host of that file can see a normal connection, including an IP address, the way any website does. The file is cached on the device so names still appear when the network fails. If no address was set, the app uses only the copy shipped inside it.

Purchases

Payment is optional. Apple or Google charges you. The products are a $14.99 lifetime unlock (oathlane_lifetime) and a $6.99 monthly plan (oathlane_monthly) that continues until you cancel it in the store. The store shows the price before you pay. Oathlane does not receive your card number.

When purchases are turned on, the app uses RevenueCat so Pro can unlock the full study set and so Restore purchases can work. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user id created on the device, the store receipt, and whether the Pro entitlement is active. That traffic is encrypted. RevenueCat is a purchase processor, not an ad network.

Children

Oathlane is not directed at children under 13, and it is not in Apple’s Kids Category.

Deletion and questions

Delete the app to remove the study data stored on the device. To ask about the anonymous purchase id held by RevenueCat, or any other privacy question, email support@oathlane.app.

No hay cuenta ni inicio de sesión. Oathlane no pide su nombre ni su correo.

En el teléfono se guardan el idioma, la apariencia, si estudia el conjunto 65/20, la velocidad de la voz, la pausa de escucha y si se lee una explicación en español, si quiere una alerta cuando cambie un funcionario, el código postal, el estado, el distrito de la Cámara, la fecha de la entrevista, si el recordatorio diario está activo, el progreso de las tarjetas, los resultados, el calendario de repaso y la racha. Desinstalar la app borra esos datos. Oathlane no tiene un servidor para guardarlos y no envía su progreso, su fecha de entrevista ni su código postal.

No hay anuncios ni analítica. Oathlane no vende información personal y no rastrea su actividad en apps o sitios de otras empresas. No usa el identificador de publicidad.

La voz del oficial es la síntesis de voz del dispositivo. En iPhone y Android, el micrófono pide reconocimiento de voz en el dispositivo. Oathlane no sube la grabación y no pasa a un reconocedor por internet si el reconocimiento local no está disponible: usted escribe la respuesta. Una vista previa en la web puede usar el reconocedor del navegador, y ese servicio puede enviar audio al proveedor del navegador. Las apps de la tienda son las de iOS y Android.

Si al compilar la app se configuró una dirección web, cada apertura pide un archivo público con nombres de funcionarios. Esa solicitud no incluye su nombre, su código postal ni su progreso. Quien aloje el archivo puede ver una conexión normal, incluida la dirección IP. Si no hay dirección, la app usa solo la copia que vino con ella.

El pago es opcional. Apple o Google cobra. Los productos son un pago único de $14.99 y un plan de $6.99 al mes hasta que lo cancele en la tienda. Oathlane no recibe el número de su tarjeta. Si las compras están activas, RevenueCat recibe un identificador anónimo creado en el dispositivo, el recibo de la tienda y si el derecho Pro está activo, para abrir el estudio completo y para restaurar compras. Ese tráfico va cifrado. RevenueCat no es una red de anuncios.

Oathlane no está dirigida a menores de 13 años. Para borrar los datos de estudio, desinstale la app. Para una pregunta sobre el identificador de compra, escriba a support@oathlane.app.
